Critical Illness Cover

How would you and your family cope financially if you were suddenly diagnosed with a critical illness?

Would you be able to cover your mortgage, pay your bills or keep food on the table if you had to take time off work due to becoming seriously ill?

Critical Illness Cover pays out a lump sum if you are diagnosed with a specified critical illness during the term of the policy (chosen number of years to be covered). Such a pay-out would relieve you from the worry of how you would afford your monthly outgoings and support your family during a stressful time, allowing you to concentrate on what matters most – your health.

Statistics show that 1 in 3 people in the UK will been diagnosed with a critical illness between the ages of 40 and 70. The average age of a Critical Illness claimant is 49 for men and only 46 for women.
This means that if you don’t have Critical Illness Cover in place then you could be at risk financially should you ever be diagnosed with a serious illness – particularly if you don’t have savings to help you through the recovery period.

The most common diagnosed critical illnesses are cancer, heart attacks and strokes which equate to the majority of claims made on a critical illness policy.

Having Critical Illness Insurance in place means that you and your family will have the peace of mind to know that if you were ever to need time off work due to becoming seriously ill, then there will be enough money to support you through your recovery.

Free Children’s Cover

Most critical illness policies now come with children’s cover at no extra cost, which means that children up to the age of 21 are covered for 50% of the value of the policy up to a maximum of £25,000. Some insurers also offer additional children’s cover of long term conditions such as type 1 diabetes, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy etc.. What’s more – a claim made under Children’s Critical Illness Cover would not alter the sum assured for the parent who holds the policy should they ever also need to claim!

Please be aware – details of the Children’s Critical Illness plan listed above are based on industry standards and are not the same for all insurers – please ask for more details when enquiring.
